Joseph Caylor… While most people prefer the mountains of northeast Georgia, I prefer the slightly less known but no less beautiful and less popular Northwest portion. This region, also known as TAG (Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia) is a haven for anyone who likes caves, waterfalls, hiking, and just great outdoor scenery in general.
The crown jewel of this region, just a little south of Chattanooga, Tennessee, is Cloudland Canyon State Park. It's a place that is unforgettable the first time you park and look out from the overlook. My first impression involved mountain laurels in bloom (my favorite flower because of this park), thousands of stairs to climb, camping around a fire, and almost seemingly countless waterfalls in such a small area.
If you have time, I'd recommend the Georgia Girl Guides, who provide great caves tour in the park!
