GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA

James Romeo… The battle of Gettysburg is perhaps the most famous battle of The Civil War, honored by many books, computer games, and a popular hollywood movie. The battlefield is well preserved and I felt a sense of the landscape that the men who fought there saw in 1863. The monuments around the park are a humbling reminder of the blood that was shed on that ground. I strongly believe in the importance of preserving historic places like this for future generations to connect with history, and the park has done an excellent job in doing so. The museum exhibits many important artifacts that help you understand the history. It is a place that I would like to bring my kids one day, when I teach them about The Civil War and how it shaped the United States.
