Experiences

Joseph Caylor… I was fortunate enough to visit this park on the 150th anniversary of Robert E. Lee's surrender to Ulysses S. Grant. Although the re-enactment of that fateful surrender is over, you can visit it any time of the year. The National Park Service does a great job of re-creating and preserving the village of Appomattox Court House, Virginia just as it looked in April 1865. If you are even a casual fan of the American Civil War and are in central Virginia, I highly recommend visiting this important place of history. Just viewing the fields and monuments where our nation was reborn is a great experience.
